WEEK 9





T-38  Complex form and proportion in perspective

Based on in class lecture,discussion, and demonstrations create an accurate 3/4 perspective view line drawing of the T-38 training jet aircraft form in graphite pencil on bond or vellum. Please find related  files in Vis 1 Dropbox.

Method
a)     Notes from lectures,demonstration, and scale drawing handouts 
b)     Study drawings and sketches from model observation
c)   On 14”X17” bond or vellum create drawings in layers in the following steps

Week 1
1) draw 3 point cube
2) define perspective grid based on cube
3) extended cube proportions to encompass object
2) plot center-line ( profile )
3) projected offset plan view ( drop-shadow)
4) project wing and tail from offset plan view
5) plot body sections

 Week 2
6) rough drawing of body form
7) final detailed line drawing with sweeps, straight edges and
 #1 extra-lightweight extended cube, centerline and sections, and construction lines.
 #2 ,#3 and #4 tapered and changing weight lines for the body form of the jet



Technique / Materials

  14”X17” bond paper or vellum mechanical pencil, graphite pencils of various weights, eraser.

 Use sweeps, french curves, straight edges and ellipse guides as needed  for high level of line control.

please premount the sketches on the front and back of a 36" wide x 48" high sheet of foamcore with tape so that it can be presented on the crit rail.
